NDCA Common college dance Recruiting guidelines & Video

We’re excited to share the new initiative designed to help college programs simplify and streamline the college dance team recruiting process

Why This Initiative?

• Feedback from athletes, coaches, studio owners, and parents revealed the current recruiting process can be confusing and overwhelming
• NDCA’s Future of Dance survey highlighted challenges faced by coaches during recruiting and a strong desire for a more structured and streamlined process

The Solution: Common college dance recruiting guidelines & video

• Inspired by the Common Application for college admissions
• Provides a standardized starting point for recruits/recruiting process

Includes:

• Fundamental technical skills
• Dance combinations required by most programs

Benefits:

• Reduces workload for dancers
• Offers consistency across programs
• Colleges can still request supplemental materials as needed

Key Dates & Timeline

GENERAL CCDRG DATES

May 1
NDCA publishes updates to the CCDRG and Video Requirements for the upcoming recruiting cycle

June 1 
Colleges & Universities:

1. Publish recruiting guidelines on their platforms, including any supplemental video requirements
2. Complete the form on NDCA website to be included in list of schools accepting the CCDRG Video for the upcoming recruiting cycle, OR contact NDCA to have your school removed if you wish to opt-out.

FALL SUBMISSION

September 1
Fall Submission Deadline

December 15
Recommended Fall Submission signing date

WINTER SUBMISSION

January 1
Winter Submission Deadline

May 1 
Recommended Winter Submission signing date

📌 Note: Each school can select which deadline best suits their recruiting model, but it is preferred that all schools accepting the video choose from one of the two common deadlines.

All materials and videos are still submitted directly to each school.

College Coaches: How to Get Involved

• Schools adopting the CCDRG Video should fill out the below form by 6/1 to be included in the published list of schools that accept the video.  
• Use your school’s website and social media to share that your school accepts the Common College Dance Recruiting Guidelines and Video
  • Recommended publish date: On or before June 1
